This incredible event was held at Stamford Bridge on the 12th May 1930. Miss Edith Day, a famous musical-comedy actress assisted the "Rio Rita" team as Captain and played a huge role in making this game possible 90 years ago.
Believe it or not, it was not the first time a group of women got together to play baseball in the UK (even if it was for a laugh). Evidence show women's baseball proved quite popular in 1920's...which is exactly how we are going to play it, a century later.
By honouring these amazing women, the Sheffield Bruins have kindly offered to help create a re-enactment game as well as a providing a clinic for female players. The event will be held on Saturday 25th April at the Bruins ground at Thorpe Green Park, Waterthorpe, Sheffield. First pitch is to take place after the clinic at 3pm so why not come along and support our female players.
This event is FREE to participate for female players above the age of 14! If you are interested in getting involved, please contact us.
